Steinbrenners Rob Reggie To Allay A-Rod
These are not your father’s Steinbrenners. For that matter, do they appear to be their father’s Steinbrenners.
In four days it will have been two years since George Steinbrenner died, and in that time his sons Hank and Hal have run their inheritance like a private vehicle for the only thing they seemed to have inherited from him: knee-jerk petulance. Their Dad grew out of its most virulent form by the time he was 60. The sons don’t seem to be moving that quickly.
Christian Red of The New York Daily News reports this afternoon that the Yankees have told their Hall of Famer and Special Advisor Reggie Jackson to “stay away” from the team, from Yankee Stadium, and from other club-related activities after his inarguable comment to Sports Illustrated that Alex Rodriguez’s admission of past steroid use “does cloud some of his records.”
It’s about the mildest form of the truth: that when combined with Rodriguez’s tone-deaf personal conduct at every stage of his career and his track record of getting smaller as the stage gets bigger, his admission of PED use – at minimum while with Texas – might be enough to give the voters the excuse they almost to a man dream of, of denying him a spot in Cooperstown.
Reggie Jackson, who said none of that and referred only to the aforementioned “cloud” and some “real questions about his numbers,” has now been banished, till further notice:
…according to two sources familiar with the team.
“Reggie is under punishment,” said one of the sources. “He’s upset.”
The comments were published at an inopportune time, when the Yankees were in Boston for a pivotal four-game series against the rival Red Sox. The punishment is not an outright ban, one of the sources said, but the Bombers felt that Jackson took a shot at A-Rod that was below the belt when he said that Rodriguez’s admitted performance-enhancing drug use “does cloud” A-Rod’s records.
“The team doesn’t need any negative publicity or aggravation, especially playing in a big market like Boston, and at Fenway,” one of the sources said. “A-Rod doesn’t need the aggravation.”
The name Steinbrenner appears nowhere in the piece. Nor does it show up in Marc Carig’s summary in The Newark Star-Ledger which adds the term “in effect suspended” and just a dollop of context:
…club officials deemed the outspoken slugger as too “high maintenance.”
Of course the absence of a Steinbrennerian reference simply serves as circumstantial evidence that it originates from one of them (the bet is Hal – Hank had the presence of mind to step slowly away when he sensed he was slightly overmatched trying to do his father’s job). The next best reason for conclusion-jumping here is reached by asking yourself who else would’ve had the power to ban the Yanks’ last, best, living connection to the days George Steinbrenner resurrected the moribund franchise in the late ’70s. You think General Manager Brian Cashman did this? The gnomish Chief Operating Officer Lonn Trost?
Of course it could’ve been Trost’s idea. The latter source quote noted above (“The team doesn’t need any negative publicity or aggravation…”) is just dense enough to be something from him. What on earth did the Yankees just get themselves besides negative publicity and aggravation by banning Reggie Jackson just as the storm-in-a-teapot over his comments to SI had faded completely from consciousness? Who on earth would have let this wet blanket land on the eve of the All-Star Game?
But even if he did dream up this chicken spit and convince Hal Steinbrenner it was salad, Trost is not likely to have given the story to The Daily News. Just two months ago he demanded that Major League Baseball actually investigate the newspaper for another story, co-authored by the impeccable Bill Madden, that the Steinbrenners were exploring selling out.
The key to the saga is the necessity of protecting Rodriguez, even at the cost of alienating and publicly humiliating Jackson, who spent only five of his 21 major league seasons in New York but is now high on the list of retired stars identified solely with the Yankees. Mr. Red of The Daily News refers to Rodriguez as the “star third baseman” and while that’s what the Yankees desperately need people to think this year, and next year, and the year after that, and all the way until 2017 when his noose of a contract finally runs out, it is hardly still the case. This is a player, healthy enough to have appeared in 82 of the Yankees’ first 85 games, whose On Base Plus Slugging Percentage number falls below the likes of Ryan Doumit, Adam LaRoche, and Jed Lowrie – and just ahead of Chris Davis, thought to be in danger of being relegated to a platoon at first base for Baltimore.
Other than structurally I am not comparing the two cases – throwing me out and throwing Reggie Jackson out aren’t in the same universe – but we are beginning to see the outlines of a pattern of the Yankees ham-handedly overreacting in defense of their rapidly rusting former star. On Opening Day last year I finally got a clear photo from my seats of a Yankee “Coaches’ Assistant” named Brett Weber. Throughout 2010 he had given hand signals from his own seat right back of home plate to Yankee players in the on-deck circle. Nearly always, this was Rodriguez, who often looked inquiringly towards Weber for some kind of data. Gradually it had dawned on me that Weber was providing Rodriguez with details about the preceding pitch: speed, location, type.
But at the opener on a frigid March day in 2011 Weber had elevated his game. He was signaling everything except time, temperature, and traffic conditions on the Cross-Bronx Expressway.
The pictures were so inconsequential that I didn’t even blog about them here. I tweeted one shot and explained that Rodriguez was just getting confirmation of what he’d seen. What I thought but didn’t (bother to) write, was that he’s so tense that he needed confirmation from a kid in the stands with a radar gun what pitch he had just seen thrown even though he was closer to the pitch than the kid was.
But a newspaper - The Daily News, natch – published the photo two days later and I arrived at Yankee Stadium that morning as the center of attention. Major League Baseball had already instructed the Yanks to not sit Weber or anybody else in the stands. The team had already issued an explanation: namely that the Radar Gun attached to the Yankee Stadium scoreboard wasn’t working that day and so Weber was telling the players something they would have ordinarily known but for a mechanical failure.
In the middle of an ad hoc “news conference” in which I insisted that it might be bizarre for a team employee to be giving an active player a kind of hand-signal play-by-play but it didn’t strike me as cheating, who walks over but General Manager Cashman. I’ve only known him fifteen years or more and he decided to make a joke about Weber signaling for beers, and then to explain that it had all been cleared up and Weber would be back in his seat for the next day’s game, and that certainly the Yankees weren’t upset with me for tweeting the photo.
The hell they weren’t.
Since 2001 I had served as the assistant to, and “color man” for, Hall of Fame broadcaster Bob Wolff as he did the play-by-play of Old Timers’ Day over the Yankee Stadium public address system. I had occasional jokes and even less occasional insight to drop in, but mostly I was there to help out Bob, who is universally revered in my industry for his skill and moreover his generosity. Just before Old Timers’ Day 2011 Bob phoned me to say he had just been told by the Yankees that while he was invited back to “announce” the game, I wasn’t. “They said they were going in a different direction.”
I wasn’t happy about it – mostly because Bob wasn’t happy about it – but good grief, the Yankees once fired Babe Ruth, it’s their ballclub and they can do what they want. Even as I chafed at the idea that a ten-year run was over without so much as a phone call or email from them, it still never dawned on me that there was an ulterior motive.
Then The New York Post ran a story leaked to them by the Yankees that there certainly was one. The Yankees, the ‘paper’ reported, were avenging themselves against me for having tweeted the Weber/Rodriguez photo.
For the last several years, political commentator Keith Olbermann has served as an in-stadium play-by-play man for the Yankees’ Old-Timers’ Day. But the Yankees are making a change, The Post has learned. The Yankees were not happy with Olbermann posting a photo on Twitter earlier this season of a coach signaling pitches to their batters in the on-deck circle. So they decided to bounce the liberal loudmouth and will have Bob Wolff and Suzyn Waldman provide the commentary for today’s game instead.
The factual errors in the item (I had never done the play-by-play; the implication that Bob Wolff was somehow replacing me was made by somebody who knew nothing of the mechanics of Old Timers’ Day) suggested this was not Cashman cashiering me, nor the exec in charge of the event, Debbie Tymon. This was further up the chain. Even President Randy Levine insisted to me that the events were unconnected, and that I was a “candidate” to return to help Bob in 2012, and that I’d hear from the club directly next time.
Not exactly. Old Timers’ Day 2012 came and went without even a post-it stuck on my seat in the ballpark reading ‘drop dead.’
And in retrospect this petty little exercise seems like a minor note before the publicity fiasco crescendo of the move against Reggie Jackson. Note that in both cases nothing was announced, just leaked. In both cases there is executive-level action by people who don’t really know what’s going on, and who wind up exacerbating a forgotten story by resurrecting it and publicly blaming on somebody else.
And in both cases the motive is to somehow defend Alex Rodriguez.
Clearly Rodriguez needs it. After the tweeted photo story broke, an American League manager took me aside to thank me for stirring up the hornet’s nest. “They’ve been doing that for years, even in the old park,” he said. “I’ve complained and complained and complained – nothing. And it was always done for A-Rod.” The skipper added some texture to this by suggesting that the real need for a guy in the stands in a Yankee jacket giving pitch details to Rodriguez and other Yankees was that the team was notorious for flashing the wrong pitch and the wrong speed on the scoreboard (they would hardly be the only team accused of that crime and/or gamesmanship).
The sad part about all of this is that in both cases these are amazing over-reactions. The “signal” story went away within 24 hours and Brett Weber returned to his seat (although Rodriguez never again got the benefit of his technically-illegal wig-wagging). Reggie Jackson’s gentle honesty about the fact that Rodriguez is a freakin’ admitted steroid user resonated here in New York with all the impact of a snowball thrown into a pond and ruffled far fewer feathers than his comments about the Cooperstown worthiness of the late fan favorites Gary Carter and Kirby Puckett.
Under Steinbrenners: The Next Generation, the Yankees’ front office looks like a bunch of hand-wringing clerks wearing green eyeshades, rushing to defend Alex Rodriguez. You know what George would have done? Nothing. He might’ve updated his infamous derision of Dave Winfield and call Rodriguez “the new Mr. May,” but he would’ve taken the heat – not applied it to others unnecessarily.
Instead the Yankees: get another publicity nightmare; underscore the fragility of their third baseman’s ego and the insanity of his five-years-to-go contract; and pull the rug out from under one of their top ambassadors (and one of their guys who actually hit his 500+ home runs without any juice).
If Hal Steinbrenner – with or without Lonn Trost – is going to run this hallowed team like a Roller Derby franchise, that other Daily News story had better be true. The Steinbrenners need to sell the club. The Yankees need to be run by some grown-ups with skin of merely ordinary thickness.

KO great post as always, again sorry that you got abused by Current. I know I will not be happy if you do not get the justice that you so richly deserve. I do know that you are on to bigger and better things and that I will be watching and do not mind to wait. Keep being yourself and you will always have a fan in me. Just always shows that mangement has no ideal what they are talking about and why it great that you are able to stand up to them.
On the Waterfront was based on true stories. These might be your Great Grandpaw’s Steinbrenners. Chilling! Thurber may not have liked pigeons, but at least he let them live in peace. This is “gettin’ gangsta,” as they say! And in addition to The All-Star Game tomorrow (as you mentioned)…it is Homerun Derby Night! Better check out back to see if anybody got beat up.

and to think i’d never imagined i could become a reggie fan. how else you gonna teach these frauds like a-rod, mcgwire and bonds a lesson? otherwise, there is no penalty for unilaterally breaking the law!
When I heard Steinbrenner got banned, I stopped my car, got out and danced a jig on the sidewalk. But I will admit that when he returned he seemed a changed man, and he soon won me over. I was glad when the Yankees won the Series one more time before he died. He’d earned it.
But his kids. Good lord. Steinbrenner, like Ned Stark, swung the axe himself, and if I didn’t like how he swung it or at whom, I could respect him for doing it himself. Hal and Hank, though, they’re Cersei and Jaime Lannister, respectively. And I guess that makes A-Rod Joffrey.

I grew up in NY in the 70′s, when George Steinbrenner, Billy Martin, Nettles, Reggie, Thurman, et al = “The Bronx Zoo” (… which is probably why I became a Mets fan). Sad to think that the current Steinbrenners are even more ridiculous, hyperbolic, and pathetic than all that.
I have been siding with Reggie on this one (though his inclusion of Gary Carter in his comments was ill-timed) but I usually take A-Rod’s side. He has handled himself well in a Yankee uniform, all things considered. He wasn’t the only one who used steroids, and at least he was a great player with or without them. But steroids will keep him out of the Hall of Fame. For a long, long time anyway. I’d like to see the HOF be divided into Dead Ball, Pre-Integration, Golden Age, Steroids Era, New Golden Age– the Cy Young Wing, the Babe Ruth Wing, the Willie Mays Wing, the Barry Bonds Wing and the (Bryce Harper?) Wing. Still, George Steinbrenner probably would have said something mean to the media in reply to Reggie and that would have been the end of it. If Trumbo is in the Hall of Fame someday and says something bad about a current Angel, will they blacklist him too? Too obscure?

As a stylistic footnote some might find interesting, the trademark “Roller Derby” was voluntarily surrendered and terminated in 2009 by its previous owners, the Roller Derby Skate Corporation. Depending on a media outlet’s particular style guide, of course, it shouldn’t be necessary to capitalize the “R” and “D.”

I had just read the Reggie article in SI today, and thought that it was very well written. I have never been a fan of the man, (those homers he hit were in the 79 Series were against the Dodgers!) but he was and is a outspoken and honest man. I think the Yankees are way overboard on this one, and what they did to you stinks on ice.

It’s as I suspected all along. The Steinbrenner boys are not management material. And even if they were this is the sorry state of affairs with all management in this country. They don’t own up to their own level of incompetence. They would rather take their frustration with themselves out on Mr. Jackson, who by the way is a lot more knowledgeable on the subject. They are not speaking coherently, but placing false bravado over someone who deserves to be exposed for the way he acted in the past regardless of his record now. Past actions do linger.
Reggie was just making an outright statement of truth which may be a foreboding to the actual elections to the HOF. He may have had this on his mind if asked who the next candidate(s) would be for this time or in future. The Hall of Fame weekend is coming up on July 20-23 so this fact may have even been brought up in other conversations, and could have been lingering on his mind.
Rather than just down-playing the statement and ask to keep whatever A-Rod spewed about his PED usage private, they have to blast a noted hero of the game. The Steinbrenner boys could have told A-Rod to keep the noise level to a minimum, don’t mention PED usage and just play ball. But they need to coddle him and stroke his ego lest he not improve on his stats without the aid of every lackey the club has to read the pitches for him; which you cleverly pointed out innocently enough. Of course you also paid a price for it. Not fairly, I might add.
All I could say is this ball club is starting to look like a poorly run company that may have to settle for second best. I used to admire them when young but as I get a little older (not too old), it seems this club is not on the right side of anything. More infractions are being exposed and covered up.

A blog written about knee-jerk petulance by an authority on the subject. I remember the good old days when Keith would post game updates on twitter from his seat at Yankee Stadium. As a lifelong Yankee fan, now living in Texas and unable to watch most games, I always looked forward to these posts. I used to get jealous because he would sometimes go to an entire three-game series. Then there was that “frigid March day in 2011″.
Keith posted that “inconsequential” photo- even though Keith has lived in NYC long enough to know that “nothing”, as it pertains to the Yankees, is ever inconsequential when it comes to the media. I don’t believe Keith was trying to uncover some big cheating scandal involving a team that he clearly had close ties to. He was (maybe still is) a season ticket holder. There used to be photos of him with his niece and nephew at games- Keith usually decked-out in Yankees’ garb. Of course, those photos are long gone from twitter. Only a couple Yankees’ photos remain on Keith’s twitter (there’s the one with A-Rod in the bathroom). Now most of his baseball tweets and photos are about the Mets. Yes, he took his toys to someone else’s sandbox. A fair-weather fan- maybe… a sadomasochist- probably… an act of knee-jerk petulance- certainly.
The “inconsequential” photo carried by The Daily News (thanks to Keith) was of course investigated by MLB and reported on, even if for only a minute, by all the major sports new outlets and in the sports section of every city that hates the Yankees (so, like, all of them). Of course Keith lives in a bubble in NYC, so he wouldn’t know that every self-proclaimed Yankee fan in the country had to hear from every fan of every other team how the Yankees were “cheaters” and had been caught red-handed. My Red Sox and Rangers friends got mileage out of that for a month- as though they needed another reason to hate the team I love.
So while there was likely no malicious intent, Keith was rewarded for the minor sh*t-storm he created by not being invited to do commentary for the Old Timer’s Day game. Yeah, I get it- it was your thing and you’d been doing it for 10 years- blah, blah, blah. That was just over a year ago and Keith has taken every opportunity to take little pot-shots at the Yankees since then. I actually kept an eye on twitter this year to see if Keith would make a snide remark about the Yankees’ Old Timer’s Day game. Surprisingly, it came and went with no mention (unless I missed it). Not surprisingly, it did eventually come up just days later. The “Mr. October” story broke and it’s almost as though Keith had been waiting, maybe even biding his time for an opportunity to bring this subject up again and talk about how he’d been wronged by the Steinbrenner brothers. Despite all the drama, no one died and the world isn’t coming to an end.
The irony in all of this is that the blog was written by a guy (who I happen to like) with a history of knee-jerk petulance, about a family (the Steinbrenners) who have a history of knee-jerk petulance, who banned a former player (Reggie Jackson) who has a well-documented history of knee-jerk petulance, all stemming from a minor non-cheating scandal involving a player (Alex Rodriguez) who is without question the definition of petulant. Of course, this is all happening in a glass house that doesn’t have a single piece of glass left in it.
Mr. Olbermann: I just want to say that not only did you piss-off the Yankees’ front office when you posted that photo, you pissed-off and bewildered Yankee fans as well. I don’t think you meant to, but I was okay with the tiny slap on the wrist punishment they gave you. You used to post photos of yourself on the field with your arms around players. You had the “gift” of 10 years of calling Old Timer’s Day games. Press badge or not, you did what all Yankees’ fans only day dream about. So, you get no sympathy here sir. Just because whining exists in baseball, it doesn’t mean fans like it. So stop whining. Unemployment is still high, a war in Afghanistan still exists, Wall Street is still getting away with murder, and we have to choose from the lesser of two total knuckleheads this November. Really, no one gives a crap if you can’t walk around Yankee Stadium like you own the place anymore.
P.S.- As for “special advisor” Reggie Jackson… while his 1st Amendment rights are protected, any business is also within it’s rights to discipline an employee (or anyone who acts as a representative) for making public remarks about the business without prior approval from the business. That may not be the world you live in, but it’s the world the rest of us live in. Jackson never could keep his mouth shut- everyone knows that. If Billy Martin were still alive, he’d agree with me.

First this is a baseball blog if you want to talk about unemploment follow him on twitter or other stuff. Also I remember when that happened and I sorry but you just lied about how it happened. That was innocent picture that KO took does not mean that he should have gotten banned espically when that picture was taken by other people aka a sports writer, so no that was not a slap on the wrist that was an unfair abuse by mangement that cannot have any unflattery pictures of the baseball p-layer booh. Also who cares that KO takes pictures of people at games and his friends that does not mean he should have been banned from the Old timmers day, Him taking pictures with baseball players that are friends and family is not the same thing. Also who cares that he pissed off Yankee fans, so he not suppose to critize this team wow, so the Yankees are the best thing since slice bread, you are showing that you are the one that is whinning not KO, I sorry but thier is no connection and anyone that is using logic which you are not, can see that thier is no connection. I posted my comment at 8:30pm. Am I not allowed to be on my computer in the evening after work? On what planet do you connect my posting a comment on Keith’s blog with whether or not I care about the unemployment in this country??? My comment pertains directly to baseball. I mentioned the other more important things going on in the world to put Olbermann’s gripes about the Yankees in perspective.
Did you not read my entire comment? I specifically said that I “didn’t” think Keith posted the photo with any malicious intent. Obviously you don’t remember the incident very well. Keith was never “banned” from Old Timer’s Day. He was not invited to do color-commentary (although you would think he had been exiled to Long Island by the way he carried on about it). He could have gone to the game. He could have enjoyed the day. He chose not to because they didn’t offer him the opportunity to sit in the booth and be heard on television- a privilege he’d been granted for 10 years. Keith tried to minimize the impact of the photos saying that the Yankees blew it out of proportion- that they overreacted. The truth is that although he never meant any harm, he created a situation that the organization ultimately had to deal with. They were damaging in that the team had to clear the incident up with MLB and the press. It was a headache no one would want to deal with. I find it really interesting that you think the Yankees mistreated Keith. Did they owe him something that I’m unaware of because he was a season ticket holder with a press badge? From the photos and postings I’ve seen in the past, Keith was treated really well by the Yankees. He appeared to me to be an insider at that ballpark. He said he’s known Brian Cashman for 15 years. Did he approach Cashman after the incident and try to explain himself? Or did he just create a mess for Cashman to clean up? All I ever read on Keith’s twitter was him deflecting and defending himself. If I had been in Keith’s shoes, I would have apologized to the people I’ve referred to as friends for unintentionally putting them in an awkward position. Call me crazy, but that would seem to be the right thing to do.
As for his criticisms, Keith was rarely ever critical of field personnel prior to this issue. He spoke about front office decisions, but rarely ever criticized players or the organization as a whole unless it was really warranted. That has changed over the last year. He now seems to revel whenever the team faulters. You and he can’t seriously expect that he would receive an invite (or even a response) about Old Timer’s Day this year after some of the remarks he’s made over the past year. I find it laughable that he’s so surprised to not hear from them. Never mind the fact that it’s now more common to see him tweeting from Citi Field. Yes, he’s a huge baseball fan- no question about that- but I don’t know where you’re from, but people in NY are judged by the baseball team they root for.
This is as much as I’ll say on the matter. If your ability to comprehend is anything like your ability to spell and form complete sentences, then everything I just wrote was a waste of my time anyway. Last thing- I do follow Keith on twitter and have been a fan for years- which is why I follow him on twitter and read his blog. I think he’s wrong on this one. That’s my opinion.

I got your firsrt post just right and I comprehended it just fine, and I am sorry but again you are beyond wrong. KO did nothing wrong here, I want you to listen and try to realize why again your posts do not make any sense. Sam I saw that photo, it was very clear that Sham- wow was singling, so it did not matter one bit Sam if KO had not taken the picture and posted. Someone else would of and Yankee’s would still of had a crisis on there hand, and more important Sam it would have been a crisis of thier own making. Sham wow who you could easily see was singling should have been the one that got in trouble, but because ARod should always be praised and never critized it was easy to put the blame on KO. Sam get this in your head KO got and will always got unjustily punished for this. You need to look at that picture, again why is that I do not have to a fan to tell that Sham wow was singaling. Also Sam is matters crap that KO always goes to Old Timmers Day, because it been shown and proven that he never in those ten years abused that privielge, Only you and other Yankee fans who agree with mangement that Arod should never get punished for anything, think that KO abused that. People that are taking this objectively know that it a lie and not remotely true that KO abused that privilege. I NEVER once said Keith was “abusing his privilege”. You keep saying that he was “unjustly” punished. An unjust punishment would have been taking away his season tickets or revoking his press pass or banning him from the stadium or flogging him at home plate during a Red Sox game. Those things would have been unjust. None of those things happened. When the Yankees allowed Keith to broadcast the Old Timer’s Day game, that was a privilege. They had no obligation to extend that privilege to him indefinitely. Not asking him to do commentary for “one” baseball game is hardly a punishment. By the way, it’s “TIMER’S”, not Timmers. I don’t think the Yankees are perfect. As a matter of fact, I think ARod “was” receiving signals. I think Keith, sitting in his box seat as a baseball fan (not a press box as a journalist) snapped a photo and “inadvertantly” opened a can of worms. I don’t blame Keith for taking the photo. I blame Keith for making such a big deal out of how the Yankees handled it. Let’s get this straight…. it’s been OVER a year and Keith is STILL complaining because he didn’t get to call ONE insignificant baseball game. I think he’s being a baby about it. Sam You still do not get it, first KO should make a big deal with how the Yankee’s handled it,. They showed that they had a imcomptent mangement, they ban a guy for doing the day because of a photo that anyone could do, basically making him a scapgoat. This isn’t easy for me to say, but I’m going to say it anyway because I happen to agree with some of Sam’s comments about your petulance, knee-jerk or otherwise.
No one can argue that you are clearly still very upset at the way the Yankees unceremoniously dumped you for posting a photo on Twitter of that “Sham-Wow” look-alike hand signal guy. At the time, I thought the Yankees were being petty and unfair since the “Sham-Wow” look-alike guy was sitting in the stands in broad daylight giving hand signals to A-Rod. Absolutely anybody could have taken a picture of him and posted it on the Internet. And then you said this year, Old Timers Day came and went and you never received so much as a ‘drop dead’ post-it. So, your upset and hurt feelings are understandable.
But what I don’t understand is why you can’t see that the way you feel about your mistreatment by the Yankees is not unlike the way some of your fans feel when you’ve blocked them on Twitter.
And I’m not talking about the sycophants and suck-butts. Those “fans” are a dime a dozen. Nor the trolls, who purposely insult you and deserve to be blocked.
I’m talking about your true fans. The ones who, despite all of the ups and downs of being a fan of Keith Olbermann (and you have to admit there have been numerous ups and downs the past couple of years that would test even the most diehard of fans), have stuck with you through thick and thin, and in some cases have been vocal advocates. The ones who, unlike the sycophants, don’t agree with you ALL the time and tweet you constructive criticism that you perceive as an insult or a slight. I happen to know that some of these fans are good people, who would never say anything to intentionally hurt or cause you distress. You have to believe that.

You are making a good point here, this is not a knee jerk like Sam wants to believe, I completely and total agree that KO should be saying this, it kind telling about the way mangement of anything can be. Having said that you do have a point about fans on tweeter. Even in that you do have to realize that what some of those fans aka that KO is very loyal to people aka Moore and Richard Harris, and to him when someone is in his mind is attacking a friend he fells like they are attacking him. That is why it hurts more for him when a friend let’s him down. It why KO always defending Moore when he needs to call him out, it why he cannot see that maybe a fan tweet is telling something that maybe true. In his eyes all he sees is that a friend is being attacked. I not saying that it places his actions or makes it right. It just one of those strenghts that also a fault at the sametime. I always say that when you are fan of someone espically someone that is famous like KO. You need to treat them and think of them as humans that have faults and realize that they do not walk on water and that they are not prefect thier is no such thing as prefection. I always think that some of the people when they become fans of KO and see this also on blogs like daily kos and huffington post think that KO is prefect and not realize that who they claim that they are fans of is a real life human being that has feelings and has faults. This is why I say the first number one rule that I always use when being a fan, know that person is not prefect and and he does has faults and find the faults that those people have, it makes it alot easier and more forgiveable when they do something that you find wrong.
This is just a hint that I am giving you and others on tweeter, just remember that person is human and he makes mistakes and may also take things or misinterupts what people are saying. In that you may think that you are offering consrtutive critism but he may not think so. It just a rule of thumb. The people that also bother me the ones the most are the people that think that they can treat celebrities like garbage, aka some that just want to assume they know why KO was absent and not actually do the research and realize that he was not only telling his fans why he was gone but that he was also not feeling well.
This is why I always say that I love KO even with his faults because I know that if I accept who he is as a person I know that he will not disapoint me or make it to where I will not be a fan, not being himself and selling out which is why Current makes me angry that they were trying to get him to do with AT&T commerical and sponsership, that is what would stop me from being a fan. Other than that, I just want KO to be himself and not afraid to show the world his faults to me that is what makes him more believe able, but I do get your point about making sure that you understand what constructive and what is not when it comes to the critism that he gets.

The truth of the matter is that Sam and other Yankee fans cannot get in thier heads, is that KO is not the only one out there with a camera, people in the stands have camera’s all the time, most on thier cell phones on top of that you have networks and sports writers that cover these events. Thier is no way that photo would not have gotten on the internet in this day and age, mangement would have a crisis in dealing with this weither KO was involved or not, also I looked at the photo you have to be blind or not paying attention to see that Sham wow was singling to Arod, so I know not to side with people that are saying different because thier is no evidence that proves differently, so I could easily see that KO was being a good jouranlist and if was a fan a good fan for calling Sham Wow on this, and as a result he got unjustily punished. Also I want people that are defending mangement to ask themselves what if they had been in the stands and had got the photo and had simply put on the internet, do you think that mangement would not punish them in someway, truth of the matter is , it does not matter who got a photo of it, mangement would have had to deal with this, KO just ended up being the one that unjustily punished. I want to ask Sam and others defending again the mangement when has the Yankees punished Arod for anything, is always like this we punish jouranlist and fans for things that Arod did wrong. How is that fair, also why was it that a another sports joruanlist also go the picture and the same time but was not punished. All Sam and other Yankee fans are showing is that thier love for that team and what Arod has done for them that it blinding them from seeing what I and others can that a it matters not who took the photo this was a crisis waiting to happen, so instead of unjustly punishing a jouarnlist they should have punished Arod and the Sham Wow guy. Also KO was told that he would be asked back this year meaning he was being punished for one game, I guy if you would read it said that, so you think that it okay for KO to lied to by mangement about the punishment. You are more than welcome, again I know that KO is not prefect, and that sometimes even for fans he can be hard to deal with. I am not on twitter but I read his tweets and the ones that others put out and I have seen him justiful block people, that is why I try to tell people that you need to stop thinking of KO as a saint or putting him on a pedstel. He a great man and one that should be loved for who he is and what he stands for, that one of the reasons that I am so upset with Current, when I read in KO’s suit which Current basically comfirmed in thier couter-suit with the we deal with business side that they were trying to get KO to do a AT&T commerical and have AT&T as a sponser that got me angry because they were trying to get KO to go against his principles and have be just as bad as the people on Fox. I care crap about rumors of car service and thrown mugs, because I know that they are rumors and also I like KO for who he and will take him that way, so it does not matter to me what happened at Current and Old Timmers day, I still going to be fan of his, he still be on my wall, ipod and ipad and I still going to trust him and my resepec will not go down, because KO is being KO and that is all I ask for. This is why I can look at things objectively when it comes to stories like these. I can tell when someone writes a letter that is all personal like Current did that showing that they are lying about who they are espically the professional part, companies do not do that even when they fire someone. Current from the start has made this personal which basically shows me that they have no facts and truth on thier side and they know it, but that they do not want to pay up and like here not do the right thing and take the resposiblity for what happened, just like Yankee mangement not taking responsiblity for Arod and not punishing him for his behavior. I know that I will be angry if KO does not seek the justice he derserves on this issue. I do not go to ego or all the other things people will call KO with when things like this happen and that is what fans should be doing. You need to look at the whole story, ask yourselves why is that Current has from the start made this and even in that counter-suit personal, while KO has only dealt in facts, not taking a joke is not dealing in personal, anyone can take a joke the wrong way, that is just a human error not ego. I’m not the same Sam as the one who wrote the long comments. I just wrote about how I usually defend A-Rod but this time I defend Reggie. Seems to me Keith is settling an old score here. What I wish is that Keith could talk about hot topics in the game of baseball– what does he think about the All-Star selection process? What are some trades that should be made (or not made)? How does he like the Mets’ chances? Are the Pirates for real? But this is his blog, not mine!
Again I have to disagree, again the picture would have been posted anyway, does not matter who did it, and mangement would still be crisis. KO has ever right to angry and to me this is all about the equality of mangement when they try to protect a assest and not let him have the ciritsm and punishment that he needs. KO has a great point, and he makes me love and respect him that he not afraid to make this point.

You are going in the right direaction here, and I agree with you on every point. I know I do not always agree with KO and again I do not think you have to be a great fan, and you are right that he should allow you to disagree. The only thing that I trying to say here is that sometimes even fans need to realize where KO is coming from, the biggest being is the fact that he tends to be to loyal to people and sometimes that loyalty gets in the way of making him see that the person doing the critism was not bashing like the Cenk fans and the ones that have been defending Current have done, I have no seen one once of truth from any of those people. That is what happened to one of the fans that got blocked. I am not saying that it right because it not, but it defentily a fault and he needs to work on. Shoebedobedo the best advice that I think that I can give when this comes up again is to say, and see if it works or helps, basically saying KO I know that you are friends with Harris, but cannot you not get that what Harris said was hate or I should say hurtful to women. Then maybe KO can see that you are not bashing harris but giving good critism, it may not work but it may help a little when it comes to that. Keith has shown that he can reason with in the past.
I know with me Shoebedobedo at least what I look for when it comes to disagreement. When people make things personal like Current has been doing, showing a how unprofessional they are with that letter and lawsuit, that usally gives me the signal that KO’s ego had nothing to do with what happened over there and that he had no blame and that he was wrongfully fired. When KO says that he thinks someone has lied or does not do reasearch and fans or people that are defending that person cannot back it up and only go on crazy things that make no sense like We’ll get back to you, that always tells me that KO was right about his critism of that person. I know that when I read a blog by that Cenk that says that we should primary Obama that gives me that singal that Cenk only goes on emtion and does not think things through, and that is what KO is critizing, so I see that as legit critism. I really had to laugh when I saw the example Current was trying to use to say that KO sabtoged them. I remember that story because I was google KO to see what is happening. Current kept leaking things like emails to the press and even a quto that was personal by the not getting along thing. KO on the other hand was telling the press he was happy at Current, saying that Carr story that was beyond negative to him and Current even was wrong, and even that Stellar which also negative to KO and Current was wrong, along with talking about gawker. I read those qutos that Current used and I had to laugh that Current thought KO’s lawyer saying that we can work this out and get to were KO would parcipate in the primaries is some how sabotaging Current, the same with the KO’s quto, I sorry but anyone who bothered to follow that story could see that Current had been satoging itself by just leaking crap to the press. Same with the salary, just like with Current when there is a quto that KO uses the press will always direct it to him and they have also been know to use his mangers name, they have never said a source said. So that is how I know that Current not KO was the one that realseed the money quto. This how I know that anymous email that was asking permission made no sense when it came to that story. espically when it already been known that Current has released another story to the press that had to do with salary. Maybe because I am in to history but I tend to look at patterns, and I have never seen the press say source when it came to a story about KO or his manger or anyone on KO’s team for that matter. That is how I know Current is lying about who released the salary info. People that defend Current in this do not realize that CUrrent leaves a paper trail a mile high, I had to laugh at thier hypocricracy, KO never really talked to the press when it came to what happened at Current. Current always is talking to the press about what is going on there with KO aka the primary story that they were leaking info too, so truth Current sabotoged themselves and instead of blaming KO, basically take the responsiblity that they leaked the story to the press so they are ones to blame if they did not like how they are precived in that. Again Current keeps showing in thier actions that they are not respnosbile or professional. That counter-suit showed me that Current’s mangement loves to blame everyone but themselves for the problems that go no in that station, showing that they do not take responsiblity for anything, they did with the studio breakingdown, they sabtoged KO with the wanting him to do a corporate commerical and have Countdown have a corporate sponser but instead wants to hypocrites and blame KO for a story that they were leaking to the press and sabatoging themselves and were KO was defending. To me I keep seeing a pattern where Current was using KO as a scapgoat just like here for all the problems that they were having over there. Some did not make sense like the week vacation, KO tweeted his fans he would be out why did mangement and I saw nothing in the counter-suit that showed that they did not apprehend him for that, that shows that they are being hypocrites when they said that they did not approve because thier actions show different. Showing what I have been seening that they have never been organized, I really had to again laugh at that one when they put it in the letter. Current’s actions show that KO is the professional, organized, works with others and has good ethics, and that Current is everything that claim he is. This why I will be pissed if KO does not get the justice he deserves for taking what the abuse. People that complain about the absebces all you had to do is go on twitter and you would see KO telling you that he not there, you would see the show plugs and he even saying that Shuster is filling in. All you had to do is go to Shuster’s page and see Shuster saying and even tweeting what guests would be on, even Press put out that he was subbing for KO and what guests he had, showing again that KO was allowing people to promote Countdown along with him, Current even retweeed all this that is how made thier accusasion are when it comes to promotion weither it was him or his guests hosts,maybe Hyatt should take responsiblity and realize that Current was tweeting wrong info that was not being helpful when it came to the show, I read those emails I did not see anything that was threatening just incomptent people that would rather whine than do thier work, all those incidents I want Current’s and anyone else getting on KO’s case to be in his shows espically when the lights went out and than tell me that you would not have done stuff different, I know that I would be at the verge of saying that stuff, I agian had to laugh that a person who showing angry and frustration in emails is somehow threatening. Again I will say that in both this case and in Current KO was the vicitim. I will be pissed if he does not get the justice he deserves. CUrrent needs to come out and just admit that they are not progressive, no channel shows vaules that are progressive would be making stars they have do commericals for coporations and have corporate sponsers so I never again what anyone to tell me that channel is corporate free beause that is and always will be a bold face lie. You are dear, history! I think we all agree. But, I was amazed at someone else here, who was speaking out with an opinion that was not one that was sure to be accepted. That is what it is all about. Speaking out when you might be the only voice doing it, when you might be the only one on that side of the issue, when you might even get blocked. This takes real courage. I that blogger was saying the right things and I agree with her that KO can block to quickly sometimes when it comes to fans. My problem really was the blogger ahead who was not getting that KO had a legit concern and was justifly treated. When I or anyone else that saw that photo did not have to be a Yankee fan, baseball or even KO fan to know that Yankee mangement would have a crisis on there hand no matter who had taken that photo even if it had been a innocent bystander. That is why instead of punishing KO they should have punished Sham wow and Arod who were causing the crisis. It was a really good piece. Shoedobe did a great post with what she was saying.

Thanks for getting KO’s history wrong. Adrain KO quit MSNBC both times, was sold to Fox the first time, he was also hired back by ESPN. The only time that he been fired and even then they ended up paying him was Fox and that was because he broke a true story about Mourdoch selling the Dodgers and truth is not allowed at Fox. Adrian you need to get this in your head, KO was able to do a last show saying goodbye to staff at MSNBC and ESPN, you do not do that if you are being fired. Also MSNBC in puttng out a press release never said that they fired KO, they said that KO and them had come to a mutal agreement. Also KO is not grinidng a axe here. I want you to take a photo of some like Sham wow that you can see clearly that was singaling to Arod and that any person in that staduim could have taken and put on the facebook or twitter or a blog they might own, or even a email and instead of puinshing the two people in your organization they punish you because that person can do no wrong, I know that I would be angry, than I want you to be promised that your punishment would be would only be for that temporay and get aka in KO’s case Old Timmer’s Day again the following year only for that not to happen. I bet you would also be pissed. Also the thing at CUrrent Adrain thier is no evidence that shows that KO broke the contract and that it all about ego. It all shows that Current broke the contract. The driver admited that he never drove KO and Current never deined when KO said that the services stopped picking him up because of unpaid bills showing that they know that they were the ones to blame for not being able get KO to Countdown. Those emails do not show that KO has tempory or that he was threatening, they show that he was dealing with a imcoptent staff that like Current would rather complain than take responsiblity. Current says they are charge of the business aspect fixing set problems is part of the business of putting on a good show, Current never takes responsiblity for not fixing the set and tenichal problems they do not deny that they tried to sabtoge KO by making him do a commerical for AT&T and have AT&T sponser Countdown thus trying to make KO a sell out and going against what he believes and fights for on his show. Also damging thier brand by showing that they are not coporate independent. They never deny this, KO’s promotes Countdown and even in October that they claim he did not when all you had to look on a fan site and see that he was on Letterman in late October, Current is just unahppy that KO would not promote they way they wanted, and not realizing which they also do not deny that he was willing to do those shows but he wanted to be able to answer the questions honesty which Current would not let him. They think KO putting out qutos that just is confirming what they are saying in the company about lawyers looking at the contract to see what can be done on the primary stuff. Other than that was defending Current and correcting newspaper articles, while Current was putting out letters and emails and basically talking to the press which bascially shows that they were sabtoging themselves and showing how unroganized and unprofessional they were way before that article and quto were written, also if you follow how the media puts out info when it come to stuff like this, they will always put KO’s name or anyone that works for him’s name out, so if you see source that means that it is Current, which shows that Current was the one releasing the salary but wanted to pin it on KO, they even do not deny when KO said manger when it comes to the black mail, but than say that KO was the one, basically showing that KO or his manger never released that info beacuse was it KO or his manger cannot be both. Also from that letter to now have made this personal and have been all over the press, while again KO has mostly been slient that shows that they broke the contract. No! His lawyer are better at helping him than I would be, I have grown up with lawyers with my mom and sister and even a god father being one, but none were dealing with suing. Really you do not have to be a fan to know that Current broke the contract, all you have to do is look at evidence that is being presented and not fall into the media trap with how they want you to see KO, what a lot of people including some people that claim to be fans do not get is that the media loves to put out cat fight and rumors and put celebrities even good ones like KO in bad light good for telling stories, so they will hardly every look at the truth. Espically when it comes to KO I have seen this since I became a fan, so I learned to never take them serious and to know that KO is usally the opposite of what they are trying to potary him as. I also know that stories like Current one and this one are not ones that would stop me from being a fan and loving KO and even loosing respect for him, because I do not care how is personally that just makes him KO and that is who I became a fan of, I would only stop being a fan is if he does stuff like that AT&T commerical and have AT&T because that goes against who he is. That why I hate Current and know not to believe anything that they say, because they show by that action that they are not honest about being corporate or even wanting to be corporate independent, they do not even deny it, but confirm it by saying that they are in charge of all business and KO in charge of content which also shows that they are not responsible because fixing tenical problems and a studio breaking down is business not content which means it thier job not KO’s to deal with that crap, and they are to blame for why the problems and they do not take that blame only go after KO and complain about size of staff and cost of set, which means that they lie when they say that they are responsible, I was taught that being responsible is that you take the blame when they things that you are in charge aka set problems are not dealt with. Also they show that they are hypocrties when it comes to what KO’s responsiblity is, they say that he was only given a honory title, but than put the blame on KO for set problems and do not even correct a non-sense article saying that KO wanted Cenk, showing by thier actions that this title is not honory, they show by the actions that they leak stuff to the press, from the primary story to even know with all the rumors they leaked to NY Post, and KO says nothing, only when he has to, and they say that KO was the one that was leaking, while thier actions show otherwise and while thier actions show that they were the ones that were sabotging themselves with that story and releasing his salary. I like to ask Hyatt was is that when I see articles that invovle KO or members on his staff why does the press put thier names to the quto, but with you they will say names or source, so because that article says source that would give anyone that wants to use logic show that you and Current released the salary. Also the main one being that from the letter to now Curernt has made this personal, which shows that they are the guilty party, no professional company even in firing someoene makes things personal, also why is that fans like me can go on twitter and see KO telling us that he going on vacation and even in that tweet says that it is authorized and Current does not say anything, they do not even produce a email that says anything to him in private, maybe because they know that vacation was authorized but Current does not want to admit it. He says when he was going to be absent and even says that Shuster would host and that Shuster was annouced in the Press as the sub host, people automatically think that when KO’s out he the one that is hosting, I could even see Press say that he hosting and Shuster putting out the guest list all which CUrrent retweeted, disproving thier point that KO never allowed others to advirtise, maybe they should just realize that they were giving out wrong info, which is why KO asked them to stop because it was confusing people, I know that I would be doing that. Under pressure and frustrating about things not working a mangement that does not want to do its job in fixing it, which makes the start up excuse beyond lame would get anyone to the breaking point of how much they can take before they snap, but even than those emails sound more like a staff that would rather complain than do thier jobs, and also watching Countdown through the years and never seeing a glass mug while competly understanable with the frustration and stress and probably even the fact that he was probably sick with bronchatis at the time because he gotten it in November, it not true because I know as a viewer and I ask anyone else that claims to have watched that want to get on KO’s case about this story, have never seen KO use a glass mug. Also with the fact that Current which they never deined this was negotiating with Spizer, which gives them a very good motive for wanting KO out of there. Patrica it really looking at something that loving history has taught me and that is to look at the patterns, and all of it points to Current breaking the contract. Patrica it would take a lot for me not to be a fan, I love him for who he is, that includes his faults, so it makes it easier for me to be objective and look for the truth.
Yes, history, I agree. It would take a lot for me not to be his fan. Even if he robbed a bank, which he doesn’t need to at all, or slapped his own grandmaw (God forbid!) or threw me from a train, which is highly unlikely, I would still be so grateful for all the years of hope and encouragement that his commentary have given me. He does have his faults like everyone else, but I feel the excatly the sameway. It why I get so frustrated at people that just easily give up on him or anyone that they claim to be fans of. It like they want that person to be prefect and when that person shows a single flaw they throw them out with the trash. I mean you would not do that to friends and family when they show that they have flaws, you take them as they are, why can you do that to the people that you claim to fans of. I think that KO needs to think about a different way than television which in truth is a dying media with the internet growing and people finding other ways to get info, if I were his agent I would say that KO needs to stay a free agent do not sign contract with network that will offer him work, instead buy a domain and set up a website, you can even link your twitter page to it, also get a you tube channel and link it to that page and have set up a deal with itunes about podcasts and link it to that page, and just go from there. Do a show and segment on that site and even write articles, you can even link this baseball blog to website. DO you that and watch as people flock to it. You will get more audience that way. The truth is the only thing KO needs is get his message out, he even admit that he got all the money that he needs. Again I will watch KO when he gets back on a channel, but I think that the future for KO and were he needs to have his message be is the internet.
Sounds pretty good, History! A lot of KO’s fans do DMs on Twitter to discuss what they think he should do. Personally, I am very happy that this is a sort of resting period. He is close to the age when many people retire. (No offense, Mr. O!) He has done fabulous work! No person who does such innovative work and speaks out for the disenfranchised ever goes unscathed. He is a very strong man, able to endure what many could not. Don’t worry too much about him. He will do fine. I like the idea of his “checking in” with programs like THIS WEEK or visiting Mr. Letterman, Mr. Colbert other talk shows. I also think his intuition and expertise in baseball and even other sports could be captured the same way, through appearances on Clubhouse Confidential, continuance of The Baseball Nerd, and maybe even doing some press box work with The Mets. Perhaps he has said enough on a regular basis and just needs to drop in and take it easy. Such a great guy needs to enjoy life and not have continuous stress. Let the guy on The Newsroom have it! LOL He can continue to take his great pics and maybe even publish that book that so many request…a full color coffee table type…tour of New York. There are so many avenues for him. I just hate the lies that are put out, I agree with you total on that. It probably also why I think internet is good, still be able to connect to fans and anyone that wants to listen, but not have to deal with the grind of stress and pressure of having a nightly show. I with on that, I like that KO is resting and getting his health back to normal. I have no problem reading his tweets and looking for guest apperances, I care only about him being happy that is it. He a great man and a real man of the people. He always stand by what he believes that is why I so angry that CUrrent was trying to change that with AT&T thing. KO has already put his place in the history books with how he and Patrick changed how highlights in sports were done with BIg Show and putting the pieces together of the success that is ESPN. KO has already sucured his place as this generations Murrow by the way that he stood up and showed what the fourth estate should be doing and that people want real joruanlist, aka the sucess he made of MSNBC, he even did with his coverage from the beginning of Occupy Wall Street. First keep living in a fantasy world when it comes to KO’s career and what networks do. Patterns that I always see on that one and I do not have to be a fan Adrain is that KO always comes back and that the burning bridges is a lie. So I know that what you just posted about that shows just how navie you are about KO, sorry thier is not going to be a gaurntee that networks will not hire KO. I want you and others that believe that buring bridges lie to ask why did MSNBC and ESPN rehire KO, why if you want to guarntee that why even now I see people even ones that have been critical of KO when it came to Current is saying that they want him back. Adrain the reason why networks always want KO as Carr said is because he generates ratings and do not put Current in there. With Current it was not because KO’s audience had left him when it came to ratings, it was because Current has no infustracture, they are upper channels and not on all cable systems.
It was not on mine, they do not podcast full episodes and live stream or even put on full episodes on the website, I know this because that is the way I had to get KO when he was on there, they did not have it HD which people want, truth is Current is and still is hard access, that is why I laugh at people who claim that Current is sucessful because of all the people that they are adding. That is not showing sucess of a channel, I was even navie on that one, or was not using my brain when it came to that.
Again if KO is so toxic why do channels hire him back, that is what I keep telling you up top that is why I laugh when people like you say that, because it always needs up as a lie. It sometimes takes a while but if he wants to a network will take the risk. Again why is that Dan patrick who a friend of KO and worked with him at ESPN says that he would come back to a network, Carr who article was mostly negtive says that network will easily hire him after a certain amount of time and he in the industry. So I do not take your garantuee because I know that anyone that says that shows that they do not know who KO is and even how popular he is with people, even to fans that get angry at him when it came to Current want him back on the air somewhere. Adrain I like KO for who he is, that is it, I care crap about what wears and I would not want to wear what he wears, I have my own style, which is jeans T-shirts and sneakers and a baseball cap, I was wearing this style will before I knew who KO was, mostly aka highschool. Also I hear people still say that ESPN is not the same without KO and even Patrick, so that should show why KO can never burn his last bridge, the same goes for MSNBC he showed that you can be successful telling the truth and just praticing jouranlism with Countdown, again even after he left MSNBC people are still saying that they mess him and it not the same and that KO needs to come back, again showing why he can never burn a bridge.
That is how I know never to listen to that made up crap about him. You again only want to bash fans and him and not listen to the truth about him. Why was it that MSNBC never said that KO was fired only that they parted on mutal terms. All the evidence shows that KO quit MSNBC and not the other way around. Why if you read about KO’s career at ESPN you would see that KO and ESPN could not agree on terms of a new contract, mostly him wanting to be New York which makes sense because he grew up there and his family is close by, also because he cannot drive because of medical reasons easier to get around and better for someone that is single, while ESPN wanted him to stay in Bristol, so again they like MSNBC decided to mutally part ways and again he got to do a last show like MSNBC and say goodbye to the viewers, that is how I know that he quit those places, again it called logic. That did not happen at Current he never got to do that show, that is how I know that he was fired, along with that combative letter and shows how Current broke the contract and how they are everything that they claim KO is. Really you do not have to even be a fan, to know that he was never fired from MSNBC and ESPN all you have to have is logic. The samething when it comes to KO’s career and how he got abused at Current, just use something you never heard of again it called logic. KO got fired from Current for a good reason…he pissed off his superiors as per usual w/his out of control ego.
KO did not get fired from CUrrent for a good reason that is pure BS. Sorry Adrain but truth and whole truth is that KO got unjustily fired from Current. KO’s ego is not out of control that is pure BS, and anyone that is telling me that ego was the reason shows that they would rather believe the lies that are come out Current’s mouth than listen to the truth.
Adrain let’s use logic here and look at the patterns, first being that Current has made this personal from the start showing that they are beyond unprofessional and responsible and are everything that they cliam KO is. A professional and responsible company would have said even if they fired the person that things just did not work out and we wish that person well. They do not name call, I know that anyone that is name calling are showing that they are guilty party and are the ones that are everything that they claim the person that they are name calling is. They put out rumors like the car serivce that got refuted right away when the driver said that he never drove KO, that should have given you a clue that this had nothing to do with KO’s ego and that his ego is just fine.
Adrian if KO ego was the problem tell me why Current kept leaking info about the why KO’s was not doing the primaires and KO remains slient until Current confirms that they finally had to get lawyers involved and KO and his lawyer just confirm that, and Current says that KO confirming what they already announced is sabtoged. I mean excuse me, Current the fact that you kept leaking to the press and speaking negatively about him that Current is you saboging him and yourself and showing how irresponsible and unprofessional and disogranized basically showing that you are not what you claim to be, and he saying that he comptent and defending you in the press easier to out blame on KO than admit that you were violating his contract by doing that. It also shows that Current is lying about KO not being a teamplayer, that really shows that Current is not a teamplayer. Next KO said that Current was having him do a commerical for AT&T and have AT&T sponser Countdown, which Current does not deny they even say that they are responsible for the business side of things. That is again sabotaging KO because that is going against what he stands for and that is going and calling out coporations and that hurting the american people. So again Current showing that they care nothing about KO and they are even sabotging themselves when they do this because they showing that they are not what they claim to be and that is independent of coporations. They know that so it easier to blame and make up the lie that KO qutoing the confermation of having lawyers that are looking over a contract than admiting that they are lied to the progressive and media that they are not corporate independent.
When the press does a story about KO they always use his name and the names of the people that work for him, with Current they are alot of the time using source. So when I looked at the Hollywood Reporter and saw source and than went and looked at the lawsuit that said Olbermann’s manger and looked at the counter-suit that said Olbermann I was easily able to reason espically when I read a story in the Wall Street Journal were they are saying that Current said that KO was going to making 50 million all together for the five years he would be there, that showed that CUrrent was the one that released the salary and was breaking the contract on that. I thought that it was funny that CUrrent puts out a email that has a May date and KO starts doing articles promoting in May and the Hollywood Reporter with the salary does not come out until June, that shows that Curent released salary and just wanted to put blame on KO. Also if you have truth on this side when it comes to the story you do not blackmail people which Hyatt never denies in the couter-suit and threaten to fire staff which Hyatt also does not deny, so again Current released salary and blaming it on KO. You can easily go to the a KO fansite or even review the times KO and see that KO did Lettermen in October and this was in late October, but Current says that KO stopped promoting than, that shows it another lie. KO promoted Countdown on TV, aka Lettermen, Colbert and others talk shows even doing a long week of promtions in LA, along with print Hollywood reporter and radio fresh air and Current says that he never promoted. YOu go on KO’s twitter page and he tells us when he going to out and doctor appointments and minor surgery in one, and he even listed what he had from getting Bronchatis in November and working to make become asthma, and even lyangtis that is how professional he is and responsible. You can even see Press saying he doing Countdown, Seder and Shuster tweeting what guests are going to be on and even KO saying that Shuster would be on. Maybe Current got banned from using twitter to promote Countdown was because they gave bad info which they also do not deny. Excause me anyone would do that, it also shows that they are not responsible to fans. Current promised KO that he would be in charge of newsroom but never listened to suggestion about live streaming and HD and even took away website to coporation, they say that it was title but when the made up KO being polite to Cenk story about Well get back which makes no sense on how it was KO intervewing or wanting Cenk, Current never spoke out against it, showing that they thought it was more than a title. So they broke it when they hired Borhem and made him President.
Again there is no evidence that ego had anything to do with what happened. KO even tweeted about the vacation and said that it was authorized and preplanned and Current never desputes this which shows that they really did authorize that. They do not refure that they were in contract neogations in November with Spizer who replaced KO. KO was unjustily fired and I will be pissed if he does not get the justice he deserves, Current has made this personal from the beging while KO has stuck with facts they say that they are charge of business but will not take resposiblity for the tenichal problems which is business side, they even put out emails that show a just as imcomptent staff that would rather complain than do jobs, none of them show temper and threatening behavior, and one does not make sense because anyone that watches KO would asking when did KO ever use a glass mug. Again all that is from the long love that I have had with the past. It also gives me more of understanding a complete picture of people I am fans of like KO, I know that lesson I have learned since KO’s unjustily firing and that is what it was and always will be, that thier are some progressives that think because someone makes a lot of money it okay for the mangement to abuse that person, or that because the company is small and are suppose to supporting the progressive agenda which it does not, the mangers how that company cannot be comptent and cannot lie about what they and the station stand for and are about. It really frustrating to me. What really frustrates again with me when it comes to KO, is the people that say they are fans but think that they can treat him like trash and give him the respect that they would a stranger on the street because he just happens to be rich and famous. Along with trying to get a show and host to be a sell out and have him loose his viewers. That is what that quto was about it had nothing to do with money vaule, and to me KO is way worth more than that for the fact that pratices and does what the fourth esate should be doing aka jouranlism. It also makes me question what those people care about is it, going after corporations and corporate greed and protecting all employees that are abused by thier employers, or is it going after the rich and letting a employee that is will off get abused by his mangement, excuse me how is that fair.
