The Stats The Yankees Would've Liked
So let's continue this little game. Think, as of 7:58 PM EST last night, the Yankees would've been delighted to know that...
- They'd rap Cliff Lee for five runs, including one in the top of the first?
- The Philly bullpen would be in such disarray that Ryan Madson would pitch last against them?
- Alex Rodriguez would snap out of it, 2-for-4, 3 RBI?
- A.J. Burnett and company would keep Ryan Howard hitless again?
- That Howard would be 3-for-21 with 14 strikeouts?
- Phil "The Human Torch" Hughes would pitch scoreless ball for an inning and a third?
Tomorrow here, we'll put Johnny Damon's double steal Sunday in the context of the top nine Smartest Plays in World Series History.

So true, these are all to die for wish stats, yet we lost. It is painful to think that the game came down to the two homers given up by Coke, but of course that is unfair, had Burnett pitched with any semblance of reasonably Coke most likely never gets in the game.
I hope Andy can give us a true Andylike performance Wednesday,. Am I alone in thinking something is off with Jorge?

As someone who lives in Toronto and watched Burnett closely for a couple of seasons, last night's performance looked terribly familiar.
shfinn, I don't know about Jorge, but where has Teixeira gone? He's been pathetic.

Ron I agree Mark has been struggling at the plate, Jorge not so much.
They are having opposite issues, Mark has been amazing in the field and Jorge has been mediocre in the field, he dropped the ball and missed that Howard did not touch the plate, he has had a few bad throws to second, that is all I can think of off the top of my head, I just hope he is ok.
